Derick Montez was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1983. The middle child of three children, Derick’s artistic abilities shined through at a young age. With the influences of the mixed, deep rooted culture around him he began developing his artistic attitude and ability.
In 1996 Derick found a connection with the graffiti culture that would develop the framework for which he paints today, with strong lines and bold color dynamics. In 2007 Derick was offered an apprenticeship with good friend Mike Giant. Through different medias such as skin, graffiti, and fine art, Derick is capable of portraying many diverse styles of imagery that constantly help to develop his own artistic style.
